History
From the beginning
- 1927: Karl Polzhofer, the grandfather of today's chief executive, founds a carpentry shop near Pöllau in Eastern Styria.
- 1952: The company oscillates between the traditions of handicraft and that of an individualistic small or medium enterprise.
- 1971: The one-man company is changed to KAPO Ltd. under the management of Karl Polzhofer, born 1949.
- 1979: A separate plant for the production of windows is set up.
- 1986: Acquisition of the furniture manufacturer Jodlbauer including the brand ‘Wiener Werkstätten’.
- 1989: Construction of the furniture plant.
- 1999: The founding of KAPO Bulgaria Ltd. with headquarters in 4000 Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
- 2005: The founding of KAPO Romania SRL in 050538 Bucharest, Romania.
2005: The separation of the units Windows & Doors, and Furniture & Upholstery into independent companies. KAPO Fenster und Türen GmbH ( Windows and Doors Ltd.) and KAPO Möbelwerkstätten GmbH (Furniture and Upholstery Ltd.) are established as subsidiaries of KAPO Holding GmbH. - 2006: Karl Polzhofer transfers 99% of the shares of KAPO Holding GmbH to his children Karl Hans, Stefan and Karin.
- 2009: Karl Stoppacher, born 1949, retires.
He has been in an executive position for 40 years, at last as technical director. - 2010: Stefan Polzhofer, born 1976, takes over the management of the KAPO Holding GmbH by his father Karl Polzhofer, born 1949.
